Parent Survey 2025

In January 2025, we conducted a survey to find what our Parents thought about our provision.

In response to the results, we have been working hard to ensure that we meet regularly with parents to discuss their child’s progress as well as minimising setting closures.

Below are the results of our survey.

Question 1

I feel that my child is happy, safe and makes good progress at pre-school

Comments:

She is always happy and enjoys pre-school
Child’s confidence has developed so much. She settled in immediately and loves being there.
I always have a happy boy at pick up time. Never had any accidents and the one time I had a (mild) concern it was answered/ addressed immediately.
Child has made amazing progress

Question 2

My child is encouraged to develop their independence and to make choices that support a healthy and active lifestyle

Question 3

The pre-school provides a wide range of activities for the children and considers the children’s interests in their planning

Comments:

Child tells me he can ask for a certain toy if it isn’t out

Question 4

The pre-school is accessible to children with Special Educational Needs

Comments:

No experience of this.
Don’t know anything about this but assume so!

All the staff are incredible!

All cultural backgrounds, views and beliefs are embraced in the pre-school and British Values form part of the children's learning

Comments:

With Child being adopted, any support we have needed has been imminent.
Again, don’t really know but assume so

Do you feel the pre-school works in partnership with parents and external agencies to ensure your child’s needs are met in the setting?

Comments:

More updates in terms of development would be good

Question 8

I receive sufficient information about pre-school activities via email, social media and noticeboards

Comments:

I absolutely love seeing the photos of Child’s week. Great for notes, information and reminders.
Agree but sometimes there could be more, i.e. Christmas raffle draw results

Question 9

Do you feel you receive regular updates on your child’s progress via telephone or in-person keyworker catch ups (formerly focus reviews)?

Comments:

Aa above, more updates would be appreciated, we’ve only been invited to a face to face update once.
I’ve had two (maybe three?) in person chats so think there could be more. I also saw my friends tapestry account and their preschool gives more insight into milestones being met etc as part of photo updates. It would also be beneficial to have a short paragraph on the child’s day and what they have shown interest in/ who they have interacted with etc with the photos. Again, I saw this on another friends account and thought it was a v good touch indeed.

Question 10

The pre-school team are caring, knowledgeable and professional

Comments:

The staff go above and beyond. When Child had a few sessions where she didn’t settle in well, the staff were very caring, made a book with photos in to look at and gave us ideas.

The pre-school responds well to any concerns that I raise, and I know who to approach to discuss any concerns and my child's progress

With toilet training with had the best support

What do you most like about Old Newton Under Fives Pre-School and would you like to suggest any areas where we can improve going forward?

Comments:

Our child is always very enthusiastic about going to the pre-school, and enjoys spending time with all of the staff. We love that he has access to outside space and there are often trips out to the park etc. All of the staff are helpful and able to answer any questions. We think they do a wonderful job nurturing the children and getting them ready for the transition to school.
My child is happy here, she loves her teachers and is always learning through play.
The environment is friendly, caring and supportive. Overall the staff are very good and I can seey son has gained so much from atrending.
The only issue I have is that the pre school closes to easily when there is an issue. There doesn’t seem to be enough done to trouble shoot the issues, such as the heating, polling day etc. The very last option should be to close the preschool and this should be highly exceptional circumstances, sometimes it feels like the default option which is disruptive for the children and difficult for parents.
We love how comfortable we all feel there. Nothing is ever too much trouble or a rush. We always know she’s safe and happy. Aswell as bring impressed by the amount she has learnt.
I love that they have outside time and it’s not a concern that they get wet or muddy. Some places i looked into before choosing old newton seemed a bit “regimented” and i love that children can really be children as well.
i feel the pre school works really hard to accommodate all of the different childrens needs , they give them a wide variety of activities to do and teach them extremely well.
All staff are very caring , kind and friendly , my daughter has been going from the age of two was very nervous to begin but they have made her feel very relaxed she can not wait to go when its her set days .
its great for me as a mum as i know my daughter is 100% safe at the setting and is happy .
V friendly and understanding. Only improvement would be via tapestry, as I put above
