At Old Newton Under Fives, we cater for all children, adapting our practice to meet their needs. This includes those identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).

We currently have experience of working with children who:

  • have allergies
  • are on the autistic spectrum
  • have a speech and language delay
  • are experiencing social difficulties
  • have hearing impairment.

We have a level 3 qualified Early Years SENCo (Jenny) to support children with additional needs further. We work closely with Suffolk County Council and other relevant professionals in order to provide the correct level of care, and ensure all appropriate steps are taken during any assessments or diagnosis processes.

We have staff trained in Makaton, interaction, attention autism and supporting children for whom English is an additional language. One of our staff members has also received Autism Bus training.

Parents and Carers are actively encouraged, at every opportunity, to work with us to gain the best possible support for their child. We offer an inclusive setting, where all children regardless of their individual abilities and needs will be able to experience a loving, engaging and educational environment where staff strive to enable their development, celebrating all of their achievements along the way.
